What We Thought?

Below are both Joe's thoughts and Kerry's thoughts, their overall ratings are out of 5.

Joe thought...

As soon as I saw this trailer in the cinema I said "I need to watch this", granted, most of my reason for wanting to watch this was for Nicki Minaj, and even though she was only given a few speaking lines, I still absolutely loved this film, and her few speaking lines... in fact, I loved the whole casting of this film, and I loved the roles that they played.

Cameron Diaz as Carly, the lawyer, Leslie Mann as Kate, the housewife, and Kate Upton as Amber, not quite sure what she did, other than be very attractive.

I found myself laughing all the way through this film, and found it even funnier because it was Jamie Lannister, ahem, I mean Nikolaj Coster-Waldau who was being "tortured" by these three women.

If you've watched this, then please, in the comments section below, tell me what your favourite parts of this film were.

I have two favourite scenes:
When Mark (Nikolaj) gets diarrhea in the restaurant, and then shits himself. I'm one of those quite immature people who laughs are fart jokes, and this definitely cracked me up for a solid ten minutes.

The second scene that made me giggle was when Mark's nipples were weirdly huge and his wife, Kate (Leslie), flicked them and he covered them up and called them sensitive.

...why I gave this film FIVE out of FIVE.

It was so funny. I absolutely loved this, and I will definitely be watching it again when the film comes out on DVD. I thought it was quite interesting with how they wrapped the film up, especially the last sequence. It's a feel good film, as well as a wine and ice cream post-breakup film.

Kerry thought...

Just like Joe, as soon as I saw the trailer for this I knew I had to watch it and I knew I would love it. The thing that drew me most to this film was that I absolutely love Leslie Mann, I think she's hilarious and adore the sweet, ditzy, slightly sarcastic characters she so often plays (I especially loved her in This Is 40). Just as I'd hoped she was brilliant, I really loved her character and her dog! Cameron Diaz was also great, never failing to pull off ridiculously sexy characters, as Carly she made the perfect sassy, feisty leader of the pack. Finally, Kate Upton, who I'd never seen in anything before, played the perfect 'dumb but pretty' character that set up for loads of laughs - and when I say pretty I obviously mean absolutely smokin' hot!

The concept for this film is one that's been done time and time again: that someone is behaving unnecessarily badly and a group of people decide to get revenge. It's a great concept that always sets up for hilarious consequences, and I have to say this is probably one of  the best films of this style I've seen in a long time. Not only do the women play some hilarious tricks on Mark the evil husband (Nikolaj Coster-Waldau) they also completely out-play him at his own game which I thought was great as it brought an extra level of intelligence to a film that would otherwise just have been a long string of hilarious disasters (not that there's too much wrong with that either).

...why I gave this film FOUR out of FIVE.

I loved the girl power in this film and came out feeling pretty liberated and proud to be a woman. I also really enjoyed the film and found it so hilarious to watch so many bad things happen to the bad guy in ways that often reminded me of Mean Girls. The only reason it doesn't get 5 out of 5 is because it didn't quite live up to my expectations (which were probably admittedly a little too high) and I have seen comedies this year that made me laugh just a little bit more. Still I have to stress this is a great film and so funny and I would highly recommend it to anyone - I will definitely be getting the DVD when it comes out!
