It's taken me a few days to get around to watching the second episode, and I don't know why I'd waited, perhaps so it wouldn't be as long until the next episode, but it was another great episode. Also, I realised that I don't think I've ever watched a program from WGN America; what about you? Maybe I've missed it on any previous shows, or maybe it really is just the first show they've aired that's gained traction.
So, I took a page from fellow admin, Kerry, and I decided to do pros and cons piles for shows and films. It actually helped me organise my thoughts.
Pros
I love the killer special effects; blood, gore, etc. horrors/thrillers frighten me, but in a good way, it draws me in. However, *spoiler* watching that unborn baby on the floor turned my stomach. The special effects are absolutely superb. Oh, and the animals with their eye lids stitched together. Eeek! But at the same time, I was mesmerised, I couldn't take my eyes away from the show, and I know that I'll be watching this series until it finishes.
The realism created within this is spectacular, there's no holding back; it's raw and gritty, and I'm rooting for the bad guys... well, the witches! I'm rooting for them. It's an amazing story so far, and I can't wait to see what's to come.
There's a lot of talking, and it can be quite slow at times, but like I said in the pros section, all the setting, character, decor, etc. is on point.

Cons
Shane West--I thought he was a good actor in Nikita, it turns out, that's his only act; it's stilted, and his language is completely off for someone of that era, it distracts from the series, and I don't want distractions like this. Also, he's wearing some nasty wig. There's a lot of talking, and it can be quite slow at times, but like I said in the pros section, all the setting, character, decor, etc. is on point.
My predictions are...
Mary Sibley will complete the grand rite, and her plans will go as she planned them... but I also think that John Alden, her early love interest will become a current love interest because they were promised to each other and she had been pregnant with his baby.
If they're thinking of playing the lovers card, then I think that they should put both John and Mary in a situation where one of them has to die; perhaps because Mary's ritual requires the death of someone in love with her or something... BUT then someone kills him for her anyway, let's face it, if this show makes it for a second season, we don't want Shane West (John Alden) in it.
