Star-Crossed Certain to be Cut!

It seems inevitable at this point, but Star-Crossed will almost definitely be cancelled by the CW once this season has ended.

You might have already seen the post I've done on Star-Crossed after a binge watch of the first 10 episodes, and I've been in the world where the Atrian race exist, but I've grown to kinda love it, and I do want more.

In my eyes, this show had the potential of making it, but after each episode it leaves the viewer wanting more; no so much high school drama. If you want high school drama, you can't mix it with heavy politics and oppression; quite a lot of negativity involved, and nobody likes negative television.

What's Wrong with Star-Crossed?

In my opinion, I think that they branded this entire idea/creation wrong. They focused on the romance aspect of the series, not only that, but the romance it focused on was between 17/18 year olds in a high school setting; it's been done before i.e. The Vampire Diaries, Twilight, etc. oh, and not to mention the male with who happens to be a different species, be it werewolf, vampire, alien, or otherwise.

*snore*

I can't say that I'm disappointed by this news, or that I didn't see it coming. I only wish it wasn't true because I feel like it has a huge potential to burst free from the confines of the high school and give the idea that this alien interaction is a world wide phenomena, and instead of just showing politics of the Atrians, we're allowed to see political leaders gather because they're worried, or because they want to integrate the Atrians. Maybe some people don't want Atrians in the outside world, and so they start killing humans who support this movement... SO MANY POSSIBILITIES, and the only thing that they're trying to play on is this tiny high school romance that only happened for 2/3 of the 11 episodes, so they're not even doing that right.

As said above, they've marketed and promoted this series as "an epic romance between a human girl and an alien boy" yet, there's very little romance going on. I think they kissed, twice, maybe.

What's right?

The politics and the creation of the Atrian race. I think what they have here is quite amazing; I love their strange markings and the unique capabilities of their bodies, as well as their ability to just love people for who they are instead of having a sex that you love--this was from what Sophia had said about her crushing on Natalie, and I think that maybe if there were more same-sex couples within the Atrian community it would have been great to show, but also great publicity for them; news pages eat LGBT issues up, and LGBT community is huge.

They answered questions that I had a couple episodes in... can Atrians and humans have babies, and what happens when they do? I feel like a lot of people will have had these questions. Another question was around the president; whoever it is, they'll have something to say about it, so why haven't we heard anything from them.

Proof of cancellation?

Until the CW release a statement on which shows they're going to be carrying on from the four sci-fi shows they ordered last summer (2013), it's all speculation. They had ordered The Tomorrow People, Star-Crossed (also named Oxygen during development), Reign, and The 100.

On average Star-Crossed has received less than 1 million viewers per episode, and the CW average for it's feature programming is around 2.5 and 3 million per episode[1]. That is a huge drop, and definitely a sign of bad things in store for Star-Crossed,

My predictions are...

The CW will drop Star-Crossed, and keep the other three. It's already been revealed that Reign has been renewed. And with 1.5 million for The Tomorrow People, and 2 million for The 100; almost sure things to be renewed, but their seasons haven't ended just yet, so it could drop.

What do you think?
Keep or kick?
