What We Thought?
Below are both Joe's thoughts and Kerry's thoughts, their overall ratings are out of 5.
Joe thought...
I went into this film wanting to absolute love it, I know I wanted this film to be absolutely amazing--I wanted it to be the type of film I could watch over and over again, but the truth is, it almost fell flat. So, whilst writing this, a phrase on the TV I'm using as background noise said "looking at it through rose-tinted glasses" and that is definitely what I did with this film.

There were parts of this film that hurt my stomach because I was laughing so hard--I mean, that boob scene, I'm laughing thinking about it.
So, that boob scene was my favourite scene from the film, that, and also the scene where they make moulds of their penises--you need to watch it to understand. However, this film could've been so much better--if there wasn't an underlying story bleurgh, the seriousness to the film just bogged me down slightly, and I wish they didn't do that. I want comedy--I want to laugh at every scene, not roll my eyes because they film is sucking at my soul.
...why I gave this film FOUR out of FIVE.
Honestly, before going to watch it, I was going to rate this film at a FIVE... but, I felt there were quite a few things that didn't sit well with me, and to give it five would make me a little bit of a hypocrite. Lisa Kudrow's appearance in this film was a major plus, let's thank the Friends gods for not making her just a supporting actress.

Kerry thought...

I was pretty excited for this film - I LOVE Zac Efron and Dave Franco is great and always brilliantly cheeky. The trailers set up for a side-splitting comedy where many hilarious things go wrong and to be completely honest that was pretty much what it was, however it didn't quite float my boat.
A lot of films like this often seem to fall in to the trap of using all their funniest scenes in the trailer and in my opinion that is exactly what this film did. Scenes that had me howling with laughter in the trailer (like the thing with the airbags) just weren't as funny the second time round in the film and when there aren't any even funnier scenes to make up for that, it makes the whole thing pretty disappointing.
Furthermore, the 'boob' scene that Joe mentions as his favourite was probably my worst; it had me cringing all the way through and even knocked me a little sick. I'm hoping other girls can relate to my reaction to this scene - but guys, I can imagine it's maybe similar to when you watch a guy get seriously hurt in the groin area. Just not nice to watch really.
Also, it all became a bit sinister at some points when you consider that this family actually have a very young baby and were spending far too much time at their neighbour's house taking drugs and exacting revenge.
...why I gave this film THREE out of FIVE.
Don't get me wrong the funny bits of this film were hilarious and the comedy acting was superb. Couldn't fault Seth Rogan or Rose Byrne and I've already mentioned my strong feelings towards Zac Efron and Dave Franco. I also absolutely loved Lisa Kudrow's little cameo as the badass Dean of the College and she was probably my favourite character. It gets three out of five because the funny bits don't make up for how uncomfortable I felt a lot of the time; although a lot of that is down to personal taste.
